A whiplash injury is one of the most common injuries sustained in an auto accident. If you have developed neck pain and stiffness after being in a car accident, you are likely to have whiplash. At Chapman Health Group, our chiropractor Dr. Todd Chapman and his team can quickly assess your symptoms, run necessary diagnostic and imaging tests, and diagnose your auto injury. We can then develop a safe, effective chiropractic auto injury treatment plan. Take a look at how chiropractors treat whiplash in Leesburg, FL

Evaluating Whiplash Symptoms

Dr. Chapman will first evaluate your symptoms and assess your auto injuries. The most common symptoms of whiplash are:

  • Neck pain and stiffness.
  • Neck pain that gets worse when moving the neck and/or head.
  • Reduced range of motion in the neck.
  • Intense headaches and/or migraines.
  • Exhaustion and dizziness.
  • Shoulder and upper back pain.

Some people also experience blurry vision, tinnitus, trouble sleeping and concentrating, memory problems, tinnitus, and mood changes.

Running Diagnostic Testing

Next, we will assess the range of motion in your neck and shoulders, look for swelling and inflammation in your neck and shoulders, and check your reflexes, strength, and level of sensation in your limbs. We will not be able to see a whiplash injury on an imaging test but may still run tests to rule out other auto injuries you may have sustained. We may recommend an X-ray, MRI, or CT scan.

Designing a Whiplash Treatment Plan

We will design a whiplash treatment plan that will reduce pain, restore the range of motion in your neck, and help you get back to your normal activities. Our whiplash treatment plan may include a combination of any of these chiropractic therapies:

  • Chiropractic care
  • Massage therapy
  • Electrical muscle stimulation
  • Therapeutic exercise
  • Cryotherapy
  • Ultrasound therapy
  • Heat therapy

Getting You Back to Your Normal Life

Dr. Chapman will recommend a specific number of treatments designed to get you back to your normal daily life. The type and length of treatment he recommends will depend on the extent of your whiplash injury. Some people recover in a matter of days, while others may take weeks. Our goal is to help you live a healthy life, return to work and exercise, sleep and eat well, and enjoy your hobbies without pain.
